The Particle Responsive Kinetic Sculpture v1.0 (aka Rave Machine)

http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=7907358&server=vimeo.com&show_title=1&show_byline=1&show_portrait=1&color=ff0179&fullscreen=1

The Particle v1.0 from Alex Posada on Vimeo.

“The Particle” is a kinetic sculpture that experiments with color, sound and movement.

A sensor monitoring system analyzes the users movements in the exhibition space. Around the space occupied by the sculpture defines a surround sound system that reacts and becomes one with the movement and light.

I’m ordering one for my house.

Photosounder

Photosounder opens fractals and photos found on the web, treats and process them, then turns them into sound.

YouTube link.

Sounds turned into images can be powerfully modified to achieve effects and results that couldn’t be obtained in any other way. So Photosounder is also capable of other tricks.

Here’s HAL 9000 turned into an image with the time resolution set to 200 times slower. Without any change in pitch a strange and eerie soundscape emerges.

Tone Matrix

sinewave.png

Tone Matrix is a simple sinewave synthesizer triggered by an ordinary 16-step sequencer. Each triggered step causes a force on the underlaying wave-map, which makes it more cute.

Would be great to be see it support save and add more patterns so you can create bigger pieces, but it’s a lot of fun to play with.

It’s like a little brother to the Tenori-on. (see demos below)

IF you like it there’s more Flash / Audio experiments from Andre Michelle.

Guiness “Spoken Word” from Shilo

spokenword.jpg

This elegant and poetic piece, directed by Shilo, mixes an amazing performance by international spoken word artist Ainsley Burrows, with flowing, metaphorical cg elements and a cinematic live action location.

Working with Saatchi & Saatchi London, Shilo has crafted some impressively integrated moments that add a nice visual spin to accompany Burrow’s voice.

It’s breath of fresh air to have spoken word drive the audio and create the tone vs. the typical monotone voiceovers that we hear soo much today in TV spots.

Moodstream from Getty

Getty Images came in to show us some new products last week. One of them is a mashup called Moodstream, which is designed as a visual brainstorming tool.

Moodstream adjusts its visual and audio output based on settings the user sets up. Users can also create and save a moodboard to refer back to when beginning a project.

If you’re in an emergency pitch-type moodboard scenario there’s also Catalyst. Enter one keyword… and select the best match.
